Kareen O’Brien is an associate attorney for Fromm Smith & Gadow, where her practice focuses exclusively on family law matters.
Ms. O’Brien obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California – Irvine, and her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. Her law school accomplishments include placing as a semi-finalist in the Cardozo Moot Court Competition in New York and as a finalist in the Southwestern Intramural Moot Court Competition. Shortly after graduation from law school, Ms. O’Brien went to work for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, soon becoming a major crimes prosecutor. She joined a special unit which prosecuted the most serious and violent domestic violence and sexual assault crimes. Her passion is being in trial. She loves the practice of law, such as presenting evidence, facing procedural challenges, and the making of and responding to objections in the midst of a fiercely contested hearing.
As a family law attorney, Ms. O’Brien continues to pursue her passion to help others in the family court system. She uses her vast experience as a trial attorney to assist her clients in achieving the best possible outcome in their family law case. Whether it means taking the case to trial or achieving the best available settlement terms in mediation, she guides her clients through the process with candor and compassion, from beginning to end.
For the past five years, Ms. O’Brien has been a mock trial coach for a local high school team, and in 2019 her team went to the Arizona state mock trial competition. In her spare time, she loves to read books, fish, and camp with her family. She loves to attend Arizona Cardinals games, so much so that each football season she and her husband travel to one away game, choosing a different city each time. She and her husband also love weightlifting at their local CrossFit gym together.
